England
Martin Taylor the Birmingham player who put Eduardo in the Hospital, and out of football for nine months consequently, has had his life put under duress. According to his manager at Birmingham he has been "mentally shattered," this part of the comments made by Alex McLeish on BBC Five Live the other day.
The reason why he has been mentally shattered, is the fact that there is a website in Eduardo's native Croatia devoted entirely to the incident. This website has been receiving numerous death threats directed towards Mr. Taylor. This interesting piece of news also courtesy of the BBC.
The tackle was a second too late and a little high, should he die for this of course not. I understand that the Croatians are pissed that there chance to have any success at all went out of the window with this incident but please act like civilized human beings.
Boy Stoke City really took advantage of that chance to go 4 points clear at the top of the league huh?
Really Preston shouldn't be in the situation there in recently anyway.
Luton Town back out of Administration. Great news for anyone associated with the club as they've been through some really tough times recently and this is absolutely great.
Wolves are still just hovering around that pack that can't quite decide if they really want to be in the playoffs this year and are just unable to put that run together that would solidly put them in the playoff places. Just gotta hope that the real Wolves team shows up this weekend against Colchester.
Copa Libertadores
Huge win for River Plate this afternoon over Club America of Mexico City. The win put us level on top of the group with two games played. For those of you who don't know the Copa Libertadores is the South American version of the Champions League. The Libertadores and River Plate are in the group stage right now and just like in Europe they play six games. This game today was huge and we needed to win to ensure ourselves of a chance.
But........
It was at home and I know that some say a win is a win, and this is definately a game we should win if we want to have a chance. So i'm not getting too excited just yet, there's still a long way to go.
France
Has anybody noticed that the bottom half of the table in France this year looks like the top half of the table did last year. There are quite a few notable names towards the bottom of the league and its just quite odd to see it like this, this late in the season. Oh well... maybe i'm just thinking too much about it. Check it out:
France Ligue 1 Table as of 27/02/08
11. Caen
12. Auxerre
13. Rennes
14. Lille
15. Strasbourg
16. PSG
17. Lens
18. Toulouse
19. Sochaux
20. Metz
There are some pretty big names on this list that did pretty well last year. This is after 26 games played. Some big club in France is going to get relegated this year. Which one I don't know. Do you?
