Martin Taylor should not die.....

England

Martin Taylor the Birmingham player who put Eduardo in the Hospital, and out of football for nine months consequently, has had his life put under duress. According to his manager at Birmingham he has been "mentally shattered," this part of the comments made by Alex McLeish on BBC Five Live the other day.

The reason why he has been mentally shattered, is the fact that there is a website in Eduardo's native Croatia devoted entirely to the incident. This website has been receiving numerous death threats directed towards Mr. Taylor. This interesting piece of news also courtesy of the BBC.

The tackle was a second too late and a little high, should he die for this of course not. I understand that the Croatians are pissed that there chance to have any success at all went out of the window with this incident but please act like civilized human beings.

Boy Stoke City really took advantage of that chance to go 4 points clear at the top of the league huh?

Really Preston shouldn't be in the situation there in recently anyway.

Luton Town back out of Administration. Great news for anyone associated with the club as they've been through some really tough times recently and this is absolutely great.

Wolves are still just hovering around that pack that can't quite decide if they really want to be in the playoffs this year and are just unable to put that run together that would solidly put them in the playoff places. Just gotta hope that the real Wolves team shows up this weekend against Colchester.

Copa Libertadores

Huge win for River Plate this afternoon over Club America of Mexico City. The win put us level on top of the group with two games played. For those of you who don't know the Copa Libertadores is the South American version of the Champions League. The Libertadores and River Plate are in the group stage right now and just like in Europe they play six games. This game today was huge and we needed to win to ensure ourselves of a chance.

But........

It was at home and I know that some say a win is a win, and this is definately a game we should win if we want to have a chance. So i'm not getting too excited just yet, there's still a long way to go.

France

Has anybody noticed that the bottom half of the table in France this year looks like the top half of the table did last year. There are quite a few notable names towards the bottom of the league and its just quite odd to see it like this, this late in the season. Oh well... maybe i'm just thinking too much about it. Check it out:

France Ligue 1 Table as of 27/02/08

11. Caen
12. Auxerre
13. Rennes
14. Lille
15. Strasbourg
16. PSG
17. Lens
18. Toulouse
19. Sochaux
20. Metz

There are some pretty big names on this list that did pretty well last year. This is after 26 games played. Some big club in France is going to get relegated this year. Which one I don't know. Do you?

Sunday whatever you call it

England

Well... the Spurs pull it off with Woody of all people hitting the winner in extra time. WOW. I guess thats all I can say. The Ramos revolution as they say is in full force. He still has Jol players but he can get the job done tactic wise thats for sure. I was definately a fan of his at Sevilla and two cup finals at a club like that is nothing to laugh at. I believe they haven't won the league since 1946 or so.

A Torres hat trick saw Liverpool move up to the top of the chasing pack with a huge win over Middlesbrough. There fans need to stop whining so much really.

Bolton got smashed (sorry i am little partial, my twin brother is a huge supporter) by Blackburn in the so-called Lancashire Derby. Not that its not a real derby they have been playing since way before 1900 but you know what i'm saying, its not the super classico or Rangers Celtic for example.

The Reading Villa match was a good one, with Reading hanging on until the Cisse mistake in the second half and then Villa just taking their time. With Reading pushing for the equalizer at the end Villa put a nail in their coffin.

We'll be back up above the rest of the midlands clubs soon, where we belong........

The relegation battle in England is heating up and the difference between 'Boro and Fulham in terms of class, luck and points is getting closer by the day. The good 'ole run in is going to have to settle it, and by the looks of it, it should get even tighter soon.

Argentina

My other, other team River Plate had a huge victory against San Lorenzo today to move us up to an early 4th in the table. I know its early but they only play 19 games each half and its 7 points after 3 games, and we're already behind Boca.

Spain

Real Madrid had more than a slight hiccup with the One-Nil loss to Getafe. The Nigerian assasin strikes again, Uche with the decisive and only goal in the 65th minute to bring Madrid back to reality. Meanwhile, Barca put the thrashing to Levante to the tune of Five to One (they're the other team from Valencia, in case anybody cares).

Saturday Ramblings about this and that....

England

Birmingham vs. Arsenal ended up being quite a game. The harsh tackle in the 3rd minute right in the middle of the park by Martin Taylor Birmingham player resulting in Eduardo, Arsenal's star Brasilian-Croatian striker ending up with a severely broken leg.

I really feel bad for Eduardo as this surely means a good six months on the sidelines and no chance to participate in Euro 2008 or the Champion's League with Arsenal.

Damn Blues stole a point at the end, oh well......... There's still only one team in the West Midlands.

Watching the Man U v Newcastle game at the moment and after Man U's 3rd a second ago this game is now over. Would love to see Newcastle relegated. (sorry Geordies just a personal fantasy)

Chicago Fire

The preseason is coming into form with the team just yesterday signing ex-Wolves striker Tomasz Frankowski to a multi-year deal. He's thirty three has some class to him, but if you ask me he's injury prone and over the hill.

Blanco, our slightly anger prone creative midfielder, is already getting into fracasas with other teams players. In just our first round of preseason games against Toronto the other day Blanco got into a shoving match with their creative midfielder the Brasilian Edu.

This is shaping up to be quite a year for the Fire, exciting to say the least with all the recent changes in the front office.

Wolves

Crystal Palace vs Wolves

0 - 2

Date: 23/02/2008
Venue: Selhurst Park
Attendance: 15679
Referee: A Woolmer
Crystal Palace 0
Wolves 2 (Gray 76, Kyle 89)

Wolves finally appear to have turned a corner this seaosn with their impressive win this afternoon at Selhurst Park (Home of Crystal Palace). Even though Palace had been going through a rough patch recently (I believe something like 2 points from their last five games), they had gone on that amazing run of 16 unbeaten in all competitions. Neil Warnock has whipped them into shape with some good tactics and wins away from and at home. And Selhurst Park is never an easy place to come and get any kind of result.

The two wonder goals from this morning were absolutely amazing. One courtesy of our new on loan (from fellow Championship dweller Coventry) Kevin Kyle. The other coming from our Left Back (ex-Blackburn reject) turned Left Winger today. With the latter picking out the top left corner absolutely perfectly.

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. The 4-5-1 was not what everybody wanted when the game starts but when you come away with a 2-0 victory no one will complain.

That's all I got for now.........

How to start something like this?

There is something about the voices streaming from the terraces in unison and The 1st round of the FA Cup (yes I said the first round) that makes you feel like a giddy and elated child having discovered the newest and best thing in the world and wanting to share it with the world.

This fanatic expression would be acceptable coming from either of the following:

1. Transplanted ex-pat who grew up amongst the Non-League, Sunday League, 1st division, etc....

2. Someone who spent a considerable amount of time in the UK and came to appreciate football in all its glory and well, we'll just say non-glory.

Not, I repeat, an American who follows Wolves because he heard the name one day during his adolescent years. One that is engulfed by the entirety of American Culture but has overcome it to the point of being the largest Wolves Fan and true supporter from afar.

Scarves, sweatshirts, kits, winter hats, shorts, etc... You name it I have it. I follow every game no matter what via the radio.

It all started at age 12 withWC1994 and Germany with Bierhoff and Klinsmann and Spain of ....... ending in a 1-1 draw. To playing FIFA video games and the day I found out that the world loved a sport that here in America we try our hardest to suppress.

The day I fell in love with Wolves and the day I changed my view of the world were one in the same.

The club holds my heart and I want to use this blog to communicate my feelings on everything football related that passes through my head.

I consider it a running conversation with the world or whoever is listening.

In addition to my knowledge of all divisions (1-5) in England, I follow and am knowledgable (at least I think so) about the following leagues (in no particular order):

Germany
Holland
France
Spain
Brasil
Argentina (vamos River Plate)

and anything else any one wants to talk about. I just love football and feel like talking.
